Rhinebeck is located in the beautiful Hudson River Valley, just 100 miles from NYC and was founded in 1686 by Dutch settlers; many of their descendants still live in the area today. In 1979, the village was recognized and placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The architecture has been preserved. Activities abound all four seasons. Area residents cherish Rhinebeck’s historic roots and bucolic setting and have set aside large tracts of land for the public to enjoy. Burger Hill, Ferncliff Forest and Poet’s Walk offer popular hiking trails with Catskill Mountain and Hudson River Views. Thomas Thompson - Sally Mazzarella Park, which is within walking distance from the center of the Rhinebeck village.
The Dutchess Fairgrounds host The Rhinebeck Antiques Fair and Crafts Fair in the spring and fall and the famous Dutchess County Fair in August. Autumn brings gorgeous foliage along with the Sheep and Wool festival at the fairgrounds. During the summer and early fall air shows take place at the Aerodrome.
One can shop for bountiful, locally grown food at the Rhinebeck Farmer’s Market, May through November.
The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College offer world-class performances all year round.
Rhinebeck Performing Arts and The Upstate Theater are local cultural treasures. In December Rhinebeck celebrates SinterKlaas, a traditional Christmas festival for the whole family.
